For those of you that follow me, you know how much I love when clients call me back to continue capturing another stage of their family journey. I was so excited to learn this family was expecting their second child after photographing their first newborn session and also a 1st birthday session. Now it was time to put newbie Hunter in the spotlight. Here he is all snuggled up in gray and blue wraps/props that complimented his older brother's newborn photos that are displayed in their home.

As always, I have to zoom in to get a closer look at those oh-so-perfect features. I rather like the profile composition and think I'll start to work that into my newborn portraits more regularly.

I couldn't help but take a shot with this long sleep cap that matched the other props....even though he's a summer babe.

Lately I am experimenting with looser drapes instead of tighter wraps as it gives a much more natural look. In some ways, it is admittedly easier if you have a newborn that attempts to achieve Houdini status (!) but I really do like it regardless. It's also a smoother transition to change colors when babe is asleep.

I am really getting into using my black background, too. It really puts the focus on the subject. A simple, clean look.

TOES! Just love those toes. Lately I am doing more toe shots with the full body blurred in the background.

An "eyes open" image with a cute expression. You will notice a similarity to his big brother's expression.

Time to be soothed by mom and I capture "mom's view" whenever I can.

Big bro is very expressive and I just had to sneak in a few of these candids. Notice how in the black and white photo, your eye immediately goes his soulful eyes.

He definitely had me at hello!

Family shots that show some interaction are my favorite.

Mom was very cool and collected - these were barely posed.

Same goes for dad. These days dad is often working from home in between photos so I worked quickly. I knew I could crop one of the shots into the closeup of the legs/hands and it's actually one of my faves of the day.

Happy parents.

A candid shot. The results of mom's soothing abilities.

Every newborn session has some fun outtakes with funny expressions. But this one takes the cake for sure. I saved it for last so you can start your next task with a smile. Thank you so much for inviting me back into your home to photograph your newest joy.
